RLEF PREPARES FOR TWELFTH ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING

20 Aug 2014

Delegates from around the RLEF’s regions have begun congregating in Brunel University, west London, ahead of Friday’s twelfth RLEF Annual Council Meeting and conference. Twenty-four countries - 21 Members and Observers and three unranked nations – will attend the gathering, with Georgia, represented by the recently incorporated Georgian Rugby League Federation, returning to an official RLEF meeting for the first time since 2006.

Following the formal AGM the delegates will be addressed by RLIF chairman Nigel Wood, who will discuss the RLIF’s strategic priorities; the RFL’s David Butler, covering the English community game’s strategic support to RLEF nations; RLEF director Graeme Thompson on the federation’s future governance; and finally former MP David Hinchcliffe, one of the group integral in the sport’s fight against bigotry in the 1980s and 90s.

Delegates will be attending the Challenge Cup final on Saturday as guests of the RFL.
