INAUGURAL SEASON KICKS OFF IN DR CONGO

Seven clubs will launch the first men’s domestic season in DR Congo when the Bantu Super League kicks off on 9 September 2023. Jaguar, Tiger, Buffalo Club, Zenith Kinkole, Source de Ve, Titan and Kasa Vubu will take part in a competition that is spread over six regions; Eastern, Kivu, Vevir, Goma, Kinshasa and Matadi. 

 

Th fixtures will be played on a festival basis over three days at each venue, with the top two sides qualifying for the Grand Final.

 

DR Congo RL president, former professional player and coach Joe Mbu commented: “I am delighted in the announcement of a championship. This is a great foundation to build on and we will go from strength to strength.

 

“When the battle begins, as players make their mark on the pitch with hearts ablaze and skills honed, they will embark on a journey of glory and triumph. In this championship legends will be born and dreams come alive. I can't wait to see players unleash their passion and chase their destiny in this amazing sport that is made for African athletes.”
