Czech Republic and Serbia have named their squads for tomorrow’s (Saturday) men’s Test Match at the Městský stadion in Krupka (kick off 5pm local time).
It will be the hosts first fixture since facing the Netherlands in European Championship D in October 2021 and Germany three years before that, their last home victory coming against Hungary five years ago. Their squad contains players from six domestic sides, five from local team Krupka Dragons.
Serbia recently moved into the top ten in the World Rankings, being the most prolific playing nation in the sport in recent times, and are looking to build on recent wins over Italy and Greece. Their squad includes Luka Stosic who plays his club rugby league for Arsenal in Montenegro.
Czech head coach Petr Sedina commented: “It is great to welcome the Serbia team to the Czech Republic again. This partnership has been outstanding for number of years, with Serbia being our role model on and off field. These games against such quality opposition really helps our players to develop. Serbia play a structured and physical game, doing the basics just right. That is exactly what I would love to see from our team.”
Opposite number, Serbia head coach Darren Fisher, said: “We’re really looking forward to getting back out on the field this weekend and it’s a great opportunity for the younger players in our squad to get some game time and vital experience. We know on previous meetings that this will be a good test for both nations and one that we will all gain something from in terms of player development and building relations.”
