Norway host Greece tomorrow (Saturday) in a men’s senior international at the Øster Hus Arena in Sandes on the west coast (kick off 5pm local time). Greece arrive having been defeated over two games in the Unity Cup by Ukraine last weekend, while it will be the Vikings’ first home match since the Covid lockdown, having travelled to the Netherlands last month. The last meeting between the two nations was 2019’s Euro C Final, which Greece won 56-26 at the New River Stadium in London.
Norway head coach, Liam Stead, noted: “We already expected formidable opposition but coming off the back of the loss we can guarantee we are going to be facing the best Greece has to offer. It’s fantastic to be able to get back playing on home soil and we are looking forward, and expecting, to put in a performance that our fans - and everyone who has put in so much work behind the scenes - can be proud of.”
Opposite number Steve Georgallis commented: “We are looking forward to playing Norway for the first time since 2019. They have improved markedly in the past few years and are doing a wonderful job in promoting rugby league both domestically and internationally.”
