The Lebanese Rugby League Federation (LRLF) has made the difficult decision to suspend all championships & activities for the year 2024. This decision comes in response to the ongoing war in the Republic of Lebanon, which has tragically affected many members of our community, as some have been caught in the crossfire or displaced from their homes.

In light of the current situation, the LRLF Board of Directors held an extraordinary session on Monday, 14 October, and has unanimously agreed that postponing the domestic 2024 Lebanon Rugby League Championships is in the best interest of everyone involved. The LRLF Board collectively issued the statement that, “The safety, security, and wellbeing of our players, coaches, match officials, staff, and fans are our top priorities.”

Looking ahead, the LRLF is planning to resume activities in January 2025, beginning with a Nines tournament, followed by the CRL Championship later that same month. This, of course, will depend on the restoration of peace and safety throughout the country.

Guided by “Strength” — one of the four LRLF core values, which represents overcoming adversity and achieving greatness despite the odds — the LRLF board remains steadfast in its commitment to the development of rugby league in Lebanon.
