SCOTLAND MAKE THREE CHANGES FOR FRENCH TEST

28 Oct 2011

Scotland coach Steve McCormack has changed his winning side as little as possible ahead of Saturday’s clash with France in the European Test Series, with just one new face and two positional changes to his starting 13.

Josh Barlow, a try-scoring debutant against Ireland, moves from right centre to second-row forward, Warrington youngster Ben Hellewell comes in for his first cap at right centre, Sam Barlow moves from second row to prop to replace the injured Jack Stearman, and Jordan Rice and Nick Broere replace Jack Howieson and Giles Lomax on the replacements bench.

Rice and Broere hope to join Hellewell in making their full senior debuts having come through the A team and Students pathway. Edinburgh Eagles again have three players in the 17.The experience half-back pairing of Lee Paterson and John Duffy with Andrew Henderson at hooker remains in place, as do teenage sensations Alex Hurst, David Scott and Crawford Matthews in the back line.

Scotland have lost all three previous meetings with France under McCormack but know they could make history with victory in Perpignan – it would give Scotland their first ever series title. Kick off at Stade Gilbert Brutus is 2.10pm UK time.
