Nova Pazova’s FC Radnicki football stadium hosted the Serbian Under-18 Cup final on Wednesday 27 June. Six clubs took part in the 2012 competition. Home favorites RLC Radnicki and RLC Soko from Vranje took part in final, with the visitors leaving empty handed after their grueling four-hour bus ride from the south of the country, despite a rousing performance.
Having kept the score to 10-4 at halftime, Soko stunned the home side with two tries within five minutes of the restart to take a 12-10 lead, but Radnicki didn’t need long to re-take the lead again. Leading 18-12, Radnicki let their guard down, allowing RLC Soko winger Filip Stosic to score a converted try. The remaining minutes were tense but Radnicki scored in the final minute to win 24-18.
Branko Bursac, president of RLC Radnicki and a Serbian Rugby League Federation Board member: “This is great moment for our club. After four years of existence we finally won our first trophy. We are very happy that we have a bright future, and that showed in this result. I hope that we will keep these lads when they step up to the open age team.”
