Lokomotiva Beroun have finished top the 2012 Czech Rugby League First Division table with a game in hand, Dalibor Smotek crossing for a Czech record six tries in a game as the Premiers thrashed Pardubice. Undefeated this season, Beroun are on track for a clean sweep of all three available CZRLA titles having already captured the pre-season 9s and now qualifying for the Grand Final on 10th November.
Czech Rugby League Development Manager Andy Mulhall commented, “As league leaders, Beroun will host the Grand Final and that game will be against Prague Vikings. Those two clubs, though, will first meet in the final round of the CZRLA Championship this weekend, with the Vikings hosting, which should be a terrific rehearsal.
“The fact that Beroun are in such a position with one round still to go is a tribute to the effort of all at the club, both on and off the field, over the last 12 months. These two Beroun-Prague games should be fantastic, as will the Pardubice-Vrchlabi game, which is effectively a play-off for third spot.”
The CZRLA Second Division Championship remains open with one round left to play. Four teams – Havlickuv Brod, Mikulov, Usti nad Labem and Chrudim – are all still in with a mathematical chance of playing in the Grand Final.
