GERMANY PAYS OFFICIAL VISIT TO WALES RL

26 Jun 2013

Rugby League Deutschland sent a delegation to the Wales Rugby League AGM on 24 June as part of the European Commission Governance Foundation Project. The project is aimed at improving the organisation of rugby league in Europe and employs a mentor-learner method that pairs some of Europe’s less experienced governing bodies with more experienced senior federations.

The trip was hampered somewhat by the sudden illness of RLD official Jörg Becker at Frankfurt airport, but Kai Jansen was still able to make the trip to Powys in central Wales. The AGM itself covered the complete overhaul of Wales RL in the seminal world cup year, which Wales is co-hosting. Other important topics covered were the move to a limited company to promote transparency and an accompanying new set of bye-laws.
