JRLA 9-A-SIDE COMPETITION KICKS OFF

The Jamaican Rugby League Association will start an eight team 9-a-side competition tomorrow, Saturday March 1 at the Olympic Gardens Football field.

The competition is divided into two groups with four teams in each. Group A features Olympic Garden Angels, Duhaney Park Red Sharks B, Washngton Blvd. Bulls and Kingston Central Hounds. Group B consists of Liguanea Dragons B, North Street Falcons, Portmore Eliminators and Rosehall Rugby League Club.

The groups will play once per month and teams at the end of the three rounds of games, the teams will face in other in cross group elimination matches to determine a champion.

Director of Rugby Romeo Monteith highlighted the importance of the JRLA's newest competition; “Our strategic objective is to play more rugby league more of the time. It is critical that we create the environment where rugby league becomes a culture for its participants. Not only will we become more popular as a sport, but our skill levels will also improve,” he said.
