SERBIAN RUGBY LEAGUE REPORTING BIG INCREASE IN PARTICIPATION

As the Serbian domestic rugby league season reaches its half-way point and the break for representative games, officials are reporting a big increase in the number of fixtures played.

The season began on 16th February and, so far, 54 full fixtures have been completed, 44 at senior level and 10 among the U18s.Serbian Rugby League President Predrag Pantic commented: “Our aim is to play 100 or more 13-a-side domestic games and we are on target. All these good quality matches will give us stronger national teams and, hopefully, even better results on international scene.”

The first silverware of the 2014 campaign has been handed out with a crowd of more than 400 at the SC Makis Stadium in Belgrade seeing Dorcol – led by internationals Stefan Nedeljkovic and Stevan Stevanovic - win the Serbian Cup 40-26 against rivals Red Star.

In the Shield decider preceding, Radnicki from Nova Pazova defeated Banja Luka White Rabbits 40-30 in another terrific tie.The Cup final is available to watch on Youtube:
