RUSSIAN RUGBY LEAGUE PLAYER RECEIVES FOUR MATCH SUSPENSION

31 Jul 2014

Russia’s Ruslan Izmaylov has been banned for four matches by the RLEF Disciplinary Committee following his dismissal in Gemona, Italy, during last weekend’s European Championship B match, won 22-18 by the Italians.

Izmaylov (pictured), who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow, was sent off immediately following the final whistle for confronting the referee, Tom Mather. He was charged and found guilty of using aggressive body language to dispute a referee’s decision.

The ARLK (Russian rugby league) has chosen not to appeal the sentence.
