Match report

UNDER 18 TEST MATCH

The match opened in minus three degrees before a good local crowd at the Stade de la Myre Mory. France got off the mark first through a David Guasch penalty goal but it wasn't long before Australia's pack seized control through strong runs by Matthew Groat, David Klemmer and Vaipuna Tia Kalifi. That forward supremacy was evident when a one-on-one steal led to Groat's try, taking the score to 10-2.

France hit back with a lovely try, engineered by stand-off Jaris Bissiere's deft chip over the top but three more Australian tries, the most remarkable a Tia Kalifi effort wiht numerous French defenders hanging off him, made it 26-8 at the break.

The Australian Schoolboys scored six minutes after the restart when Tau Tau Moga's break put Michael Chee Kam in under the posts, snuffing out any thoughts of an unlikely French revival. Tries from Wighton Tedesco and McCallum ensued, to completely break French resolve.
