A vocal Stade Struxiano crowd of 1,500 spectators were treated to another stirring clash between the tourists and the cream of France’s elite juniors. The Australians, who had been beaten by France U19 three days earlier, led 6-4 at the break and were lucky to hang on as France squandered three gilt-edged opportunities in the first period.

AIS kept their noses in front, leading 12-10 and then 16-12 while their well organised defence kept the home team at bay.
