Match report
A length of the field try by Karle Hunte broke the resistance of the Irish Students and lead England Lions to a hard fought win
The game started with both sides showing good work in defence, with neither finding a way through in the first 15 minutes. Karle Hunte finally opened the scoring with a well taken try after 15 minutes and England began to dictate the pace, doubling the score after half an hour with Harvey Gotts finding space to go over, with his goal making it 10-0 at the break
Ireland reduced the deficit just after the break after an Ylton score, but England again started to dominate proceedings and Downes extended the lead again.
Ireland began to get back into the game and threatened the line on several occasions, but a moments genius from Hunte took all of the wind out of Ireland’s sails as he ran the length of the field to score his second try, with Jordan Hellam putting the seal on the win with his try on 68 minutes
