Match report
History was made north of Oslo as youth Rugby League took a huge step forward in Norway with the Under 19 team playing their first ever international against Serbia Under 18s
Greater experience proved to be key as Serbia ruthlessly powered through the Norwegian defence at regular intervals in the first half and threatened to run up a huge score, leading 36-0 at half time.
With a large crowd roaring them on, the Norwegian youngsters restored a lot of pride in the second half with a battling display in attack and defence that took it to Serbia and produced a thrilling second half and the first points scored by the Norway Under 19s with Håvard Ingemann Hansen having the honour.
Serbia Captain Vladimir Milutinovic had a profitable day, running in six tries and deservedly winning the Warren Heilig trophy for man-of-the-match, presented by the founder of Norwegian rugby league whose vision and determination from 2009 set the foundations, Heilig having flown in from Brisbane for the occasion.
