GERMANY QUALIFIES NEW COACH EDUCATORS

24 Apr 2015

The reconstruction of the sport in Germany received a boost over the weekend when Welsh and Danish coach educators descended on Hattingen to join German colleagues in the latest round of the EU-backed Leadership Devolution Project.

RLEF Coaching Manager Martin Crick assessed Wales RL’s Mark Jones and Allen Jones leading the delivery of the educator training to the three German trainees, Mawuli Amefia, Bob Doughton and Simon Cooper, who began their training in Copenhagen last year. Danish RL educator trainees Nigel Kitching and Richard Naylor attended to gain on-the-job experience.

"It was a very successful weekend all round,” said Salford board Doughton. “The fact that we now have three Coach Educators in Germany means that we can put on our own Level 1 courses. This is a massive step forward for us. We also have six newly qualified coaches. Once again the weekend showed the value of the cluster with Wales and Denmark, with many discussions on events to strengthen the ties between our countries".

The Leadership Devolution Project is largely funded by a €195.000 grant from the European Union.
