International Rugby League has submitted evidence to the Guiness Book of World Records, that the first try in the 2019 Rugby League World Cup Qualification game between Serbia and Greece, is the fastest ever try scored in an international rugby league match. The current record is held by Australia's legendary captain, Bob Fulton. He scored for the Kangaroos against France in 15 seconds in a 1970 match.
The try was scored by Serbian Second Row Forward, James Mirceski. It came directly from the kick-off in. game that eventually turned bad for his team as the lost to Greece by 82 points to 6.
James is very proud of his achievemnent saying, "Since my very first game for Serbia in 2016, I have always given my all for the country and the team. It was a huge shock to score a try so quickly. Unfortunately the match went in different direction and we suffered a heavy defeat.“
In support of the application for recognition by the Guinness Book of World Records, Serbian Rugby League General Secretary, Vladan Kikanovic said "It was a try that gave us some hope in the match against Greece, but to be honest, they had a great team with top players from Australia. I wish them a best in the RLWC 2021 and I hope that they will perform well, because that is important for whole Balkan region."
