UKRAINE CELEBRATES TEN YEARS OF RUGBY LEAGUE

2 Nov 2016

The 1st November signified the tenth anniversary of the setting up of rugby league in Ukraine and, despite the political issues in the region, the sport is continuing to grow.

President of URLF, Artur Martyrosyan, pictured left, hailed the landmark. “Over these years, we have carried out tremendous work in all areas related to the development of the sport in our country,” he said.  “It is becoming much wider with each passing day, that entails more training, games, tournaments and rivalries.

“We are increasing the number of players, coaches, referees, members of administration teams and the Federation itself; there are more support groups, patrons and sponsors, influence in relevant state organizations and individual fans.”

Martyrosyan continued: “From the heart I would like to thank everyone involved in the development of rugby league in Ukraine for their contribution, especially in such a difficult time for our country. We believe in the future success of domestic competition at all levels.”
