The Jamaican Rugby League Association (JRLA) has announced another major sponsorship boost in their historic journey to qualify for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in the United Kingdom.
Body Pro Health and Fitness Centre have been confirmed as the official strength and conditioning partner of the Jamaica national team for 2011. A sponsorship package worth $500,000.00 has been agreed to, and will see 10 domestic based national players improve their strength and conditioning in the lead up to the qualifiers that will take place in Philadelphia, between October 15 -23 this year.
In confirming his company’s sponsorship, Phillip Williams–Owner of Body Pro Health and Fitness Centre said that, “Rugby League is a very physical sport, players need to be at their physical best to compete at the international level and we have all the necessary equipment and experienced gym instructors to chisel the Jamaican players into the best physical specimens that they can be. We are very happy to assist the JRLA with our first class facilities because as a local amateur sporting body, they need all the help they can get to put Jamaica into the rugby league world cup.”
Body Pro Health and Fitness centre, joins Supreme Ventures Ltd., Kukri Sport UK Ltd., and Virgin Atlantic Airline as the official partners to date of the national team. JRLA chairman Ventley Brown wants to see more support; “We are elated to have Body Pro support our national program with their first class facilities, we are hoping more local and international companies will come on board because this is truly an exciting sport and Jamaica is poised to achieve great things in the coming years”.
The schedule for the Atlantic group qualifiers have recently been released with Jamaica clashing with South Africa on October 19th before taking on the USA on October 23rd. JRLA Development Manager Romeo Monteith, charged with the responsibility of preparing the domestic based players believes the program is on the right path, “The partnership with Body Pro brings another level of professionalism to what we are trying to achieve in terms of elite player preparation, these players will now be able to keep up with our English based players who are full time or part time professionals, we expect a good performance from our combined squad come October”.
