STARI GRAD WINS SERBIAN RUGBY LEAGUE SHIELD

Rugby League Club Stari Grad from Belgrade won the Serbian Rugby League Shield competition’s cup final on Sunday. Stari Grad played against a young Soko team from Vranje. The result was 28:18 (half time 20:0). Stari Grad is made up from from Dorcol’s younger players who are fighting for a place in the champion’s first team.

Djordje Divic, Rugby League Club Stari Grad, captain was thrilled with the victory: ’’This was a great season for us. We only lost two game all year. This team has shown that a combination of youth and experience can get results. I hope that a few of these lads will play in for Dorcol and Serbia’s national team in the future.“

Meanwhile, Radnicki RLFC and Red Star played a match on Saturday for humanitarian action to help 19-year-old Danijela Kovacevic who is in a coma. The game was played in Danijela’s home city of Indjija, 50km from Belgrade. All funds collected will be used for Danijela’s treatment in Germany. Rugby League Club Radnicki won the game 18:16.

The Serbian Rugby League Cup final was postponed due to Rugby League Car Lazar problems with injuries. The Serbian Rugby League Federation Board will make an announcment on this match in due course.
