The First and Second Divisions in the Czech Rugby League Championships have kicked off their 2013 seasons. In the First, 2012’s undefeated premiers, Lokomotiva Beroun, took up where they left off with a comprehensive 56-0 win over Vrchlabi. Two of the three promoted teams battled it out in the other opening round game, Teplice defeating Havlickuv Brod 28-8, Vaclav Fischer with a hat trick; Mikulov Roosters had the bye.
Chrudim Angels emerged victorious on home soil in the opening rounds in the Second Division, defeating Pardubice 48-0 and Hradec Kralove 34-14; Hradec Kralove – with Ladislav Cintler outstanding - overcoming Pardubice 44-4. Prague Vikings and newcomers Brno-Bystrc are yet to debut in 2013.
Three of the season’s tournament rounds in the Second Division will be taken to towns who do not currently host a rugby league team as a promotion for them doing so in 2014. The 2013 First and Second Division Grand Finals will be played on the same day, at the venue of the First Division’s Champions choosing.
