The Spanish rugby league, the AERL, has announced the creation of the eighth Spanish club: Torrent Tigres RLC. The new club, the sixth in the county of l'Horta, is building towards participation in the first edition of the Spanish 9s in 2014 and in the National League Championship in 2015.
Tigres RL has already begun the campaign to attract new players to begin training in September. Aitor Dàvila, captain of the Spanish national team, will be the coach of the new club. Dàvila said: “We've got a big challenge ahead. The sport is making good progress in our country and clear proof of that is the creation of new teams like Tigres. Torrent is a city of more than 100,000 just 5km. from Valencia. We hope to attract many boys and girls to discover and practice the greatest of all sports.”
