UKRAINE ANNOUNCES NEW TEAMS

Four new clubs will take part in the Rugby League Cup of Ukraine when it kicks off in Lviv, in the west of the country, on 9tNovember. The hosts, along with Uzhgorod, Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk will see the sport complete a journey from east to south and now the western regions which ensures national development. The newcomers will join existing teams from cities Kryvy Rog and Kharkiv.

“This is a very important step forward in spreading the sport here,” said president of the Ukrainian Federation of Rugby League, Artur Martyrosyan. “To enable it to happen, we are also developing the correct infrastructure.”

The day before the Cup kicks off, the first national coaching course to be organised by the URLK will take place, run by RLEF accredited coach-educators Martyrosyan and Oleksander Ivchenko, who qualified through the on-going RLEF Technical Strategy.  

“There will be 17 coach participants from 11 cities - Kharkiv, Lviv, Kyiv, Irpen, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Rivne, Uzhgorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Khmelnytsky,” Martyrosyan added. “It is also possible because of a Rugby League Development Fund grant from website Rugby League Planet and for that the UFRL expresses its deep gratitude.”
