Match report
SCOTLAND U19 v ENGLISH LIONS U18
The much stronger and more experienced English team won this game comfortably, scoring 10 unanswered tries against Mark Senter's Scots.
The home side put the English under some pressure at the start of the game but then the young Scottish team found it difficult to cope with the speed, power and movement of the England forwards, who put the Scotland team on the back foot which created space for the England backs to take advantage.
Despite the score line, the England coaches were impressed with the progress being made in Scotland noting that the team was stronger than in previous years and had a stronger structure and better understanding of the game than previously. With most of the Scotland squad available next year, this augurs well for the future.
There were numerous good performances from the England team with centre Karl Hunt and left wing James Miller causing havoc with their elusive running. The England coaching staff nominated full back Niall Sydney and half back Matt Hogg as joint man of the match for Scotland.
