Match report

Tempers boiled in the heat as Chile overcame North Macedonia at Forshaw Park in Sydney, with the game concluding on an all-in brawl.

North Macedonia Head Coach Aaron Zammit noted “It was a really close game and some great plays made by both nations. For us, our younger guys had a few couple of concentration lapses which let them down”

Andrew Charles, Chile Co-Coach added "We are very pleased with our performance considering the oppressive heat and against a determined North Macedonia who came ready to play.

Our forwards asserted their authority early which enabled hooker Mitch Black to dominate from dummy half. Mitch was outstanding scoring 20 points from 2 tries and 6 goals, and as such was our Man Of The Match, Brandon Tobar and Daniel Vasquez once again had very solid games.

It was a good opportunity to try some new combinations and give two young players in Dylan Concha Attard and Jabez Jiminez their debuts where they impressed.

We look forward to our next opportunity as we continue to gain experience and to get stronger."
