Match report

USA qualified for the final of the Americas Women’s Championship to face Canada on Saturday, after a comprehensive 44-0 win over Jamaica at the University of North Florida rugby fields in Jacksonville.

Winger MarCaya Bailous led the way with a hat trick, including finishing an 80 metre effort after the ball had gone through three pairs of hands to complete the scoring, hooker Nicole Fisch with the opening two tries, both darting out of dummy half.

“I’m really happy with the win and keeping Jamaica to zero, especially in our first home game for the women,” said USA Hawks head coach Sean Rutgerson. “We’re off to a good start but we know how tough it will be preparing for Canada in a few days but we’re up for the challenge.”

Debutant Tiara A'au was a powerful presence off the bench for USA also claiming one of their eight tries, while Courtney Treco landed 16 points from six conversions and a try.

Jamaica women's head coach, Andrew Dixon, said: “The result was not what we expected and we have to go back to the drawing board. It’s a young team and there is improvement from last year where we started from but there is more to add and work on, we are coming back.”

USA face the Wolverines women at the same venue for the right to represent the Americas in the 2025 World Series which leads to qualification for the Women’s RL World Cup in 2026.

In the opening game, Canada warmed up to play the USA by beating the hosts’ Pioneers side 80-0, winger Brittany Jones with four of their sixteen tries.
