Match report
France U16 won the first game in a two-match series against England Youth in hot conditions in the coastal town of Barcares, near Perpignan. An exciting match went down to the last minute, with England pressing for at least a tying score against resolute French defence.
Lucas Gagnon's imperious offload to impressive Baptiste Fabre allowed the stand-off to clinch the winning score after England had wrested back parity having been 20-10 down.
Brocas opened the scoring from a Fabre stab kick but Roby hit back seven minutes later. Having replaced hooker Louis-Esteban Biville, who suffered a serious knee injury as Roby scored, Lucas Cuellar gave France the lead with a darting run from dummy-half.
Both sides exchanged tries after the break before France scored the try of the match, exchanging four passes in a 50-metre movement that ended with wing Vianney Morin scoring his second try.
Yellow card: Beddall (ENG) 45.
