French Elite 1 Championship Final
Lézignan 17 (10) - 12 (6) XIII Limouxin
14 May 2011 - Parc des Sports et de l'Amitie, Narbonne

Lezignan secured the double in France after they won the Elite 1 Championship final on Saturday, beating Limoux 17-12 in a tense and at times brutal final. Played in front of almost 12,000 fans in Narbonne’s Parc des Sports et de l’Amitie, friendship was seldom on display as the two old rivals battled it out. The victory, FCL’s fourth title in as many years, which equalled the record for most consecutive championships, tying XIII Catalan’s 1982-1985 run, came under a month after the Lord Derby Cup triumph against Pia to complete a perfect season for the Lezignanais.

XIII Limouxin overcame a 10-6 halftime deficit to lead 12-10 but Lezignan refused to panic, and marshaled superbly by Nathan Wynn and Aurélien Cologni, each of whom registered tries on 55 and 56 minutes, came back to clinch a gripping match. Limoux’s double try-scoring fullback, Luke Towers, was named man of the match.
