The Lebanese Rugby League Federation (LRLF) has partnered with the Lebanese Group Manchester (LGM), a young UK based organization aiming to support the Lebanese community in Manchester and the North of England. The LGM is liaising with the Lebanese and non-Lebanese community members in the UK to support the Lebanese Rugby League team during the world cup.
Badih El Hage, one of the two LGM directors, supported the Lebanese team in the world cup 2000 campaign and is delighted to be able to support the team again after 22 years. Mr. El Hage said: I am excited to be able to support Lebanon again, my first encounter with the team was during the 2000 WC in England, we all at LGM are looking forward to supporting our team and rase support to help them through their economic hardship and grow the game. Roger Khoryati, LGM director and entrepreneur, also said I am delighted to support the Lebanese Rugby league team in their quest to reach the final of the World Cup competition, it has been a long journey for them ;with all the economic hardship Lebanon is going through; they need all the support they can get and we are proud to offer that support .
During the visit of Mr. Nayef Abi Said’s (LRFL CEO) to the UK in May, the Lebanese Group Manchester (LGM) along with Mr. Abi Said met with the Lebanese Embassy in London and other entrepreneurs to build community links in support for the world cup campaign. Mr. Abi Said: We are looking forward to our partnership with LGM who is our official partner in the UK, we look forward to working with them during the World Cup and building programs to support Lebanon through these difficult times.
The LGM will be hosting a dinner with the LRLF team during their stay, for the Lebanese community to meet the team, show their support, and wish the team well for the campaign. The LGM will also be selling the LRLF official merchandise on their website www.lebanesegroupmanchester.co.uk. All proceeds and donations raised will be sent to the LRLF to help rebuild the local domestic game in Lebanon.
