Peter Fox, Roger Millward MBE (see above), and Peter Astenbury are in Malta this week where they will coach Maltese players tomorrow ahead of the first round of the MRL domestic championship.

Bringing over 800 top level games experience with them, they have been guests to the Maltese Islands since the early 1980’s.

Millward played over 500 games at the top; including a scintillating career representing Great Britain, Fox played another 245 games and went on to coach England and Great Britain. The coaching clinic is thanks to the initiative of Astenbury who first contacted Malta officials in February with the aim ‘to give something back to rugby league’.

Tomorrow’s first match day of the season sees the first appearance by the new Gozo team led by Clifford Debattista. They will take the field for their first match at 5pm, at Swatar.
