The start the 2026 Czechia domestic season saw a development league tournament held in Helvíkovice near Žamberk. The 9s event was hosted by Barbarians Letohrad, with four teams taking part, the hosts, Krupka Dragons, Orli Havlíčkův Brod B, and Polish side Cedrus Sroki Łódź.
Barbarians won all three of their matches to top the standings, Česká Asociace Rugby League prezident, Lukáš Hergott, commenting: “The Development League tournament in Helvíkovice confirmed its important role within Czech rugby league, offering competitive matches, international participation, and valuable playing time for all teams involved in preparation for the season to come.”
Points accumulated across all development league tournaments will determine the overall season winner with the next one scheduled for 25 April in Veselý Žďár.
The men’s season will again be divided into spring and autumn phases, separated by a planned summer break during July and most of August. The First Division features four sides playing home-and-away during the regular season, the top two teams advancing to the Grand Final.
