CANADA RUGBY LEAGUE GETS BROADCAST BOOST

14 Aug 2011

Just one year after first taking the field against the USA in the first Colonial Cup, the Team Canada Wolverines will play its home match in the second Colonial Cup live on CBC, Canada’s national broadcaster, as a part of Sportsday in Canada.

"This is a massive opportunity to introduce the game of rugby league to a wider Canadian audience," CRL President Cory Tukeli explained. "Sportsday in Canada is the premiere summer sports presentation on CBC and now the greatest game of all will be a part of this massive event."

The Wolverines will be looking to take the Colonial Cup trophy for the first time in this match, having warmed up well with a convincing win against Jamaica last week.

"We are really looking forward to putting on a good show for the country," CRL Chairman Eric Perez exclaimed. "This is our chance to show a wider audience in Canada how great our sport is and that in rugby league, Team Canada are winners!" The match will take place Saturday September 17th at 3:00pm, at Fletcher's Fields in Markham.
