WALES SEEKS NEW CHAIR

10 Apr 2012

Wales Rugby League has issued the following statement:

The Board of Wales Rugby League (WRL) is seeking to appoint a Chairperson to assist the Board in the delivery of its 2012-2017 Strategic Plan. WRL launched its 5 year strategy based upon the values of Passion, Integrity, Respect and Innovation and the Board seeks for us to be recognised as a leading governing body of sport in Wales.

The strategy can be summarised in the phrase “Increasing the awareness of Rugby League in Wales through lifelong participation in the sport”. There has never been a more exciting time to be involved in Rugby League in Wales. The strategy is being delivered by an operational team across the principality and significantly we are co-hosts of the Rugby League World Cup 2013 with the opening ceremony in the Millennium Stadium Cardiff in October 2013. We seek someone with outstanding leadership capabilities to ensure the Governing Body makes the most of the fantastic position it is in.

The Board will consider all applications on merit, and would particularly like to receive applications from candidates with a strong background in any or all of the following disciplines: - Marketing - Public Relations - Commerce - Governance - Finance.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend Board Meetings, five per year, where they will provide help, guidance, advice and support to the delivery of the strategy and to represent WRL at the Rugby Football League Council, The Rugby League International Federation and at other official functions. Fees are negotiable for the right candidate, and all reasonable expenses are met.

Applications should be made in writing, and we are happy to meet with interested applicants in confidence, to either Mark Rowley, General Manager, Wales Rugby League at [email protected] or Caro Wild, Acting Chairperson at [email protected] Closing date for applications is 30th April 2012.
