1 May 2012

The JRLA continued its steady push to have rugby league played across all age groups when the first Primary school championship was held at the GC Foster College. Seaview Gardens and Bridgeport Primary, who both fielded two sides, and Naggos battled for top honours, the enthusiastic pupils demonstrating that they had all the basic skills.

Seaview Gardens A topped the standings on 10 points after winning three games and drawing one. Bridgeport A finished second after securing two wins while Naggos finished in third place on five points. JRLA Director of Rugby Romeo Monteith noted, “We had 50 children playing in our inaugural championship. Tag rugby league is very safe at this level and provides lots of running, which they love here. We intend to play this annually and gradually grow the number of schools taking part.”
