PIANENCS FAVOURITES IN FRENCH FINAL

The biggest day in the French domestic calendar takes place on Sunday, when the 2013 Elite 1 final takes place at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan. After two exciting semi-finals in Toulouse on Sunday, with Pia and St Esteve defeating Toulouse and Lezignan respectively, the competition favourites advanced to the championship finale and the chance to lift the Max Rousie Trophy.

Carcassonne and St Esteve XIII Catalans juniors begin proceedings with the Junior Elite final before the 100% made in Catalonia Elite 1 showpiece. The Pianencs, who have lost their last three finals in 2008, 2010 and 2012 will be confident of beating what is effectively the Dragons’ feeder outfit. Pia finished top of the table after the 17 rounds, with 15 wins and only two losses, including two victories against Sunday’s opponent, 12-10 and 34-4.
