COMMONWEALTH CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCHES SOCIAL MEDIA

13 May 2014

The Rugby League 2014 Commonwealth Championship has launched its social media platforms six weeks ahead of the inaugural tournament.

The Nines championship will feature eight nations from every part of the Commonwealth, with hosts Scotland, England and Wales representing Europe; Australia, the favourites, from Australasia; Papua New Guinea from the Asian Pacific; South Africa flying the flag for the whole of Africa; Canada coming over from North America and Jamaica crossing the Atlantic from Central and Southern America.

The tournament, being competed by national Under-19 teams this summer, will be one of the biggest events leading up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and is part of the Homecoming Scotland festival. The pool stages take place on Friday 27 June and the finals on Saturday 28 June, all at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, courtesy of North Lanarkshire Leisure. Entry to all games is free with the entertainment starting at 1pm on Friday.

Fans from all over the world can follow the build-up to the event on Twitter at @RLCommChamp and on Facebook at the 2014 Rugby League Commonwealth Championships page. News will be released throughout the week between now and the kick-off.
