JAMAICAN COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP OFF TO ROARING START

The eagerly-anticipated 2014 Jamaican Intercollegiate Rugby League Championship got off to a great start, with six institutions vying for glory. Defending champions Mico University College defeated University of Technology 40-8 with Fabion Turner running in a hat trick of tries, while last season’s runners up GC Foster College triumphed 40-18  against Portmore Community College, prop Patrick Alexander scoring two tries on debut.

In the other game,  University of West Indies opened with a win, beating Excelsior Community College 22-10, stand off Kemoy Whyte with 12 of their points. The sides will play each other twice with the top four battling it out in the semi finals on April 12, and the Grand Final will be played on Thursday April 17.
